ECG Electrode Monitoring

Ecg monitoring is a means of monitoring the electrical activity of the heart. Ordinary electrocardiogram can only simply observe and record the transient electrical activity of the heart at that time. Ecg monitoring is a non-invasive monitoring method to continuously observe and monitor the electrical activity of the heart through the display screen. It can timely observe the condition, provide reliable and valuable indicators of electrical activity of the heart, and guide real-time treatment. Therefore, it has important value for patients with abnormal electrical activity of the heart, such as acute myocardial infarction and various arrhythmias.

ECG electrodes have long been utilized by the medical community to evaluate heart function in patients. Quanding Medical offers class-leading electrodes for a variety of medical applications. Whether you require traces for active, resting, long-term, EMS, neonatal or elderly patients, we have your heart monitoring needs covered.

Quanding Medical Electrodes Feature:

• Solid gel, wet gel, cloth, foam and tape options
• Pediatric and prewired electrodes available
• Less Artifacts
• Convenient Single-Use Packaging for Infection Control
• Private label capabilities

Heart rate is the number of beats per minute of the heart, and the pulse rate is the number of times per minute that the heart effectively beats to produce a pulse. Under normal conditions, the heart rate is equal to the pulse rate, but under conditions of poor heart function or arrhythmia (such as in patients with atrial fibrillation), the pulse rate can be less than the heart rate.

Normal heart rate:

60-100 times per minute for adults

Children 2-3 years old 100-120 times/min

110-130 times per minute for children under 1 year old

120-140 times per minute for newborns

Indications

Since ordinary electrocardiogram can only record the electrical activity of the heart for a short period of time, it is of limited value. The cardiac monitoring system can continuously observe and analyze the electrical activity of the heart in real time, which can be said to be a very valuable means of monitoring the condition of cardiovascular disease.

1. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation: ECG monitoring during cardiopulmonary resuscitation helps to analyze the cause of cardiac arrest and guide treatment (such as defibrillation); Monitoring surface electrocardiogram can detect arrhythmia in time. After successful resuscitation, the heart rhythm and heart rate changes should be monitored until stable.

2. Patients at high risk for heart rhythm disorders: Many diseases can develop fatal heart rhythm disorders during the course of the disease. Ecg monitoring is an important method to detect severe arrhythmia, prevent sudden death and guide treatment.

3. Electrocardiographic monitoring for critical cases: acute myocardial infarction, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, cardiogenic shock, severe infection, pre-excitation syndrome and after cardiac surgery, etc. Ecg monitoring should also be performed in patients receiving certain medications that are cardiotoxic or affect the conduction system of the heart. In addition, hypoxia, electrolyte and acid-base imbalance (especially potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium), and multisystem organ failure are associated with various critical illnesses.

4. Some diagnostic and therapeutic operations, such as tracheal intubation, cardiac catheterization, and pericardiocentesis, may cause arrhythmia, resulting in sudden death, and require ECG monitoring.

Hospitals with conditions are generally equipped with electrocardiograph monitoring equipment in the Coronary heart Care Unit (CCU) and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Some monitoring systems also have temperature, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, invasive or non-invasive blood pressure monitoring.
